Montane Gecko VP 12+

The Montane Gecko Vest Pack 12+ offers a fit that’s as secure as a gecko for when you’re trail running and need to carry plenty of gear. You can keep loads of your stuff accessible without having to take the pack off, and it all sits comfortably around your body, so you’ll be able to forget it’s even there. There are twelve litres of storage in the main pocket at the back, perfect for layers and emergency kit, and accessible pockets at the side and front for everything you might need on the go. There is also a stretch pocket at the back of the neck, which can be accessed on the move.

The front zipped pockets are big enough to carry a smartphone and bungee cords at the sides offer multiple pole-holding options, which can be moved to the back if you prefer. At the rear, an integrated bungee offers some extra storage or can be used for compression when the pack is less full. The included 500ml Montane UltraFlasks fit in the upper pockets but could also be placed in the zipped pockets and used with straws to take the pressure off the chest if that is a more comfortable fit for you.

The material is specifically designed to stretch more horizontally than it will vertically – this means that while the vest will hug the body and give a secure fit, it won’t bounce. There are two adjustable stretch chest straps with multiple attachment points, so you can place them at a height that suits your body, plus a stretch lower Montane Active Strap for a secure, non-restrictive closure and quick release opening. The mesh back is durable, padded and will wick moisture away from the body. It is also treated with Polygiene permanent odour control to stop the growth of bacteria from sweat, stopping your vest from smelling even after long days in the hills.
